The School

The School of Physics is a research focused School, with a strong commitment to quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  The School has been highly successful in attracting national and international competitive grants for research and has developed strong collaborations with major Physics institutes and laboratories around the world.

While its core business is fundamental research, the School has also successfully translated the results of this research into the development of new technologies for the benefit of mankind, in areas from advanced radar systems to biotechnology.  Strong collaborations continue with the spin-off companies which are commercialising these technologies.

Physics Workshop
The UWA physics mechanical workshop performs some of the best precision machining in Australia.  It boasts an Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) facility including an EDM drill.
